GLENS FALLS — Coffee Planet, a popular Ballston Spa coffeehouse, is expanding to Glens Falls, the ownership announced Wednesday.

“We’ve gotten to the point where we have a good brand, and we’re ready to expand,” said Cliff Baum, the owner.

Developer Peter Hoffman is renovating space at 140 Glen St., next to Domino’s Pizza, to be ready for an opening in late October or early November.

Renovations include installation of wireless Internet in the space where Prima, a gourmet eatery, closed earlier this year.

Peter Hoffman said he and his wife, Suzanne, have been customers of Coffee Planet in Ballston Spa for years and have been trying to convince Baum to open a second location in Glens Falls.

“It’s really what a coffeehouse should be. There’s really a cool feel to the place,” said Suzanne Hoffman.

Baum said the coffeehouse will serve coffee, soups, sandwiches and baked goods.

It will be open seven days a week with hours yet to be determined.

“We’ll adjust our hours to the needs of Glens Falls,” Baum said.

In other development news, Peter Hoffman said he was scheduled to close on Wednesday afternoon on the purchase of the former Glens Falls post office building on Warren Street from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic parish.

Hoffman said he will make some window and roof repairs to stabilize the post office building until he completes renovation of his Warren Street Square project
